Robbery Mechanics and Police System

The 2022 leaks revealed a very detailed look at a robbery in a diner (Hank’s Waffles), showing a much more complex robbery and police response system than in previous installments.

Robberies and Crowd Control

Robberies now include advanced hostage-taking and crowd control elements. Instead of simply aiming at a cashier, players will need to actively manage customers and employees.

  • Intimidation: A specific mechanic has been implemented to order civilians to keep their hands up or stay on the ground.
  • Hostage Taking: It is possible to tie up civilians (using zip ties or ropes) to prevent them from escaping or trying to be heroes.
  • Detailed Looting: Characters can interact individually with the cash register, safes, and also steal belongings directly from hostages.

New Police Response (Dispatch)

The wanted and capture system has received a complete overhaul:

  • Response Time (Dispatch Timer): During the robbery, the interface shows a counter indicating how much time is left before police units arrive at the scene. This requires players to plan and execute their robberies with precise timing.
  • Full Vehicle Knowledge: The police are smarter. If you flee the crime scene, patrols will take note of the vehicle (color, model, and possibly license plate). It will no longer be enough to simply exit the search radius in the same car; the police will recognize the vehicle if they see you with it again in the area, which incentivizes changing cars after a heist.
