The New Inventory System
According to the massive leaks of 2022, Grand Theft Auto VI abandons the classic infinite “magic pocket” to make way for a much more realistic and immersive system, heavily inspired by mechanics seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Weapon Limit and Visible Carry
Players will no longer be able to carry a full arsenal invisibly. The new system significantly limits the number of weapons the character can carry at the same time. Furthermore, long weapons, such as assault rifles or shotguns, will be carried visibly on the back, similar to the RDR2 mechanic. If you carry a weapon in your hand and switch to a smaller one (like a pistol), the character will sling the long weapon on their back or use a strap.
Use of Duffel Bags
To compensate for the reduction in personal inventory, the use of duffel bags is introduced. These bags will allow Jason and Lucia to transport additional equipment, extra weapons, ammunition, cash, and loot obtained from robberies. However, the player will have to carry the bag physically or leave it in the car’s trunk.
Item Exchange
The leaked material shows direct cooperation mechanics between the protagonists, allowing Jason and Lucia to pass weapons, ammunition, and other items directly to each other in real-time. This focus on resource logistics makes preparation before a mission or heist much more important.
How the GTA 6 Inventory System Will Impact Gameplay
The implementation of the gta 6 inventory system is expected to completely change how players approach combat and exploration. Unlike previous titles, where you could pull an RPG out of thin air, managing your limited weapons and utilizing duffel bags strategically will be essential. This grounded approach ensures every decision—from what you pack in the trunk to who carries the heavy firepower—matters.
